Long-Acting Reversible Contraceptives and their varied uses
Unintended pregnancy is a challenging global problem that places a socioeconomic burden on couples, the health system and associated governments. According to the World Health Organisation (WHO), six out of ten unplanned pregnancies end in an induced abortion, of which 45% are considered unsafe. 97% of unsafe abortions take place in developing countries where these are a leading cause of maternal morbidity and mortality.
Managing dysmenorrhoea
Dysmenorrhoea is a Greek term for “painful monthly bleeding” and can be classified as either primary or secondary dysmenorrhoea. Primary dysmenorrhoea is pain in the absence of underlying disease/conditions whilst secondary dysmenorrhoea refers to pain due to an underlying disease, disorder, or structural abnormality.
Male sexual dysfunctions: The impact on the partner
Male sexual dysfunction can significantly impact, not only the individuals suffering from the dysfunction, but also their partners. Much research has explored the attitudes and responses experienced among men with sexual dysfunction. Loss of self-esteem, depression, mental health concerns and deterioration in sexual and overall quality of life has been documented.
